Abstract
The summary was identification of six main facies or facies groups in the Baytugan field area. The formation was divided into two main units, a lower transgressive systems tract and an upper highstand regression. Correlation was established between oil production rates and the distribution of main facies belts. High production rates are yielded by tidal channel/tidal delta and fluvial channel systems, medium rates by prograding barrier bars and lagoon fills. Low or no production is associated with lagoon muds and silty parts of barriers. As it can be seen on the corresponding maps and diagrams.
The paper presents the available information, describes the analysis methods used to assist the allocation of new development wells, based on the identified depositional systems. This was also used to validate reservoir characterization input for reservoir modeling to recalculate in-place volume and reservoir connectivity.
