The sedimentary facies and distribution of Lower Cambrian in Tarim basin is the key for understanding the characteristics of source rock and reservoir. Based on the 2D seismic data interpretation, combined with drilling’s cores and rock slices observation, the sedimentary facies and distribution of lower Cambrian in Tarim Basin are studied. Yuertusi formation of Lower Cambrian is a gentle slope deposition which the deep water environment is dominant,and the paleo-continent, tidal flat facies,half deep water gentle slope facies, deep shelf -basin facies were developed in proper order from the central paleo-continent to the north and south sides in Tarim Basin. Xiaoerbulake formation of Lower Cambrian is a carbonate ramp deposition which the shallow water environment is dominant,and the paleo-continent, tidal flat and lagoon facies, Subtidal facies, half deep water slope facies ,deep shelf-basin facies were developed in proper order from the central paleohigh to the north and south sides in Tarim Basin.The sedimentary facies and distribution show that, the source rock of Yuertusi formation and dolomite reservoir of Xiaoerbulake formation in the western of Tazhong Uplift constitute a good source-reservoir assemblage,which is a favorable exploration direction and region for deep exploration of large-scale oil and gas.
