Abstract

Summary

To overcome the deficiencies of low accuracy and large computational complexity the traditional methods have, a seismic fault detection method based on Hough transform was proposed. Firstly, the coherence attributes were calculated by coherence cube algorithm, and the coherent image was filtered by morphological filtering method; Secondly, the Canny operator was used to detect edges in the coherent image and Hough transform was used to detect line segments in the resulting edge image; Thirdly, the line segments were clustered automatically according to their inclination angle and position. Finally, each cluster of the line segments was used to define a seismic fault. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we did experiment on real seismic images. The experimental results show that the proposed method can detect various faults in seismic images correctly, and the time cost is greatly reduced.
