Abstract

Summary

We demonstrate a 3D operator-based method for target-oriented imaging for continuous reservoir monitoring. We extend the CFP technology to generate target oriented prestack angle domain common image gathers (ADCIG) for AVA analysis to detect the time lapse signals. To preserve the amplitude, we introduce an amplitude balancing technology to make the ADCIGs AVA response correct and independent of the acquisition geometry. Compared to the traditional data processing workflow, the target-oriented process is much cheaper and the images show similar anomalies as the conventional 4D processing. Combined with time-lapse seismic acquisition, the targeted-oriented imaging can provide images of reservoir changes which are consistent with the CO2 injection history.
