Abstract

Summary

A case study of a drilling site in K-G Basin where Gas Hydrate reserves have been found. This site exploration was done during the Indian “National gas Hydrate program”. The analysis of Well Log data from this site gave insights into the nature of the physical & geological parameters here. The main aim was to draw qualitative inferences from this data and see if these are consistent with the general reservoir trends, trends of sedimentary structures and the results found during the expedition. The main parameters which were analysed with the help of the data were overpressuring, seal integrity and nature and formation of gas hydrates. The mechanisms also became more clearer and we can get a better idea of the local geologic setting & the mechanisms which led to the current conditions. Well log data analysis supported with existing models, past case studies and the trends observed can be made more efficient in such cases to yield better inferences.
