Summary:
The large multi-layered sandstone reservoir usually has large oil bearing area and sharp variation of reservoir distribution, and reservoir should be divided into different areas with different development strategies. Currently, reservoir area division is mainly based on geological study on flow unit classification or profitable area identification, while methods of geological understanding with dynamic analysis are seldom used. Take a large multi-layered sandstone reservoir in Middle East for example, a method of different productivity area classification interpreted with geological and dynamic data for multi-layered sandstone reservoir are proposed. Firstly, criteria of well type classification are defined based on production data and pressure data of all producers, and all producers are divided into different types based on the criteria. Then geological characteristics of different type of wells are analyzed, and key geological controlling factors and parameters impacting on well productivity are determined. Finally, relationship and criteria between well type and geological parameters are established, and the reservoir is divided into different areas with different predicted productivity. This paper offers a case study of production region division, and production are division is much useful for the next waterflooding well pattern deployment and development strategy decision.
