Abstract

Summary

We propose a new approach for the cancellation of sinusoidal noise. Unlike the conventional method which aims to get an estimation of amplitude and phase of the noise, this method forms the noise series by taking advantage of the characteristic of the original record itself and doesn’t bother to calculate the amplitude and phase. The main idea of this method can be described as: randomization is implemented to preserve the shape of sinusoidal noise while the reflected signal is disturbed; SVD is applied to extract sinusoid noise which has horizontal events and filter the signal which has been converted into random noise. At last, the separated sinusoid will be subtracted from the record. The synthetic model and field example has proven the validity of this method and its superiority comparing to notch filter.
