Abstract

Summary

In this paper, we present the first finite element approach for poroelastic seismic modeling based on the viscosity-extended Biot framework. The new framework resolves two serious deficiencies of Biot-theory-based seismic modelling and obtains a new diffusive slow shear wave. To analyze the process of diffusion, we present the shapes of slow waves by Green’s function in high frequency. Then we perform numerical simulations in inhomogeneous porous media at low frequencies using our finite element code.
