Abstract

Summary

The hydrocarbon probability of reservoir can be estimated using AVO fluid inversion with geostatistics. The porosity probability distribution of low-porosity and low-permeability reservoir is uncertain, so we improved AVO fluid inversion using high probability scanning method to make full use of its advantages in statistical analysis with Bayes’ theory and Cauchy distribution probability theory. All high probabilities of porosity are integrated into one map of reservoir porosity. In the application of case study, the prediction results show a better match rate up to 79%. It’s an effective method to predict porosity of low-porosity and low-permeability reservoirs such as tight sands.
