Abstract

Summary

This paper addresses reserves estimation, how reserves are use in accounting and the impact of geoscience and reservoir engineering work. The outline this paper is as follows: First we address reserves and resource classification in general and briefly reviews the different system used by industry today. Then we discuss how reserves impact on oil and gas company’s financial status and results. We then proceed with discussing how geoscience and engineering work influences on reserves (and resources) estimates. An example is also discussed at the end to illustrate these issues.
