Abstract

Summary

Fluid-saturated reservoir usually results in the attenuation and dispersion of seismic waves. Field seismic data and numerical simulation have shown that the seismic response characteristics are different for different fluid-saturated reservoirs. However, for field data, there are many factors that can create the frequency-dependent shadow in the process. And numerical model does not provide a completely realistic fluid-rock response. In this paper, to better study the spectral response characteristics of different fluid-saturated reservoirs, we established the seismic physical model to simulate the wave propagation in the actual stratum in a laboratory model. We successfully used the seismic physical model and the spectral decomposition method to reveal the spectral response characteristics of different fluid-saturated reservoirs. Based these physical modelling results, we can provide physical basis for detection and identification of gas and water using the frequency-dependent amplitude analysis. We may detect fluid utilizing frequency-dependent anomaly characteristics.
