Abstract

Summary

The carbonate fracture-cavern reservoir is the focus of current research in China, and how to detect the fracture-cavern reservoir accurately is a difficult problem. In this paper, a new multi-scale cave detection method is studied to predict the spatial distribution of fracture-cavern reservoir of different scales. Firstly, through forward modeling analysis with different cave scales, we can determine the change laws of “string beads” reflection characteristics. Then we conduct pre-stack frequency division time migration for CMP gathers and get four pre-stack frequency division data volumes. Finally, we carry out multi-scale cave detection based on amplitude difference of frequency division data volumes. Practical application show that this method can detect different cave scales effectively and is highly consistent with the actual drilling results.
