Abstract

Summary

A new method of proppant selection and testing prior to proppant placement during hydraulic fracturing is introduced through this study. An experiment comparing the interaction of two different types of proppants with cored rock is conducted using a newly developed laboratory test setup. The proppants used in the study are sintered bauxite and intermediate proppants. They are placed in this setup and a pressure of up to 650 bar is applied during the study. The designed setup has a potential to significantly improve the quality of method of proppant selection.
