Abstract

Summary

In the present study, a novel crosslinked gel has been synthesized using the low molecular weight acidic polymer gum karaya (MW-940000Da) and zirconium crosslinker as an alternative to guar based fracturing fluid to increase the proppant pack conductivity and with competitive rheological performances at high temperature and high pressure conditions. The polymer and crosslinker concentration was optimized and the gel synthesized was studied for structure, morphology, time-dependent and time-dependent rheological test under stimulated condition of pressure and high temperature. Also, the breaking properties of the gel synthesized have been studied and regained permeability was evaluated using the sand pack flooding test which confirms its its ability to reduce the proppant pack damage and work upto high temperatures of 150°C.
