Abstract
Fractal geometry methods were used to create a model for determining the rational density of a network of exploration wells. Geologic-structural sections of 1: 200 and 1: 1000 scales of Krivyi Rig BIF deposits were used on example of Inguletske, Skelevatske Magnetite, Novokrovilozhske, Valyavkinske deposits. Initial data was obtained with instrumental geological and structural mapping of quarries. Introduction of fractal geometry methods in planning and implementation of operational exploration for Inguletske deposit made it possible to reduce the density of exploration wells without reducing the reliability of obtained data. The density of the operational exploration wells was 50×50 m. Using the fractal geological and structural model, it was possible to expand the exploration drilling network to parameters of 76×105 m without reducing the reliability of information. Considering cost of drilling this method has a significant economic effect.
