Abstract

Summary

The paper reviews the approaches to the examination of sediments related to the development of carbonate buildups in the Syrachoy Formation. The work is aimed at the study of the carbonate deposition in the Syrachoy Formation in order to get a thorough understanding of the geological structure of the prospect. The insights are then used as the basis for further prediction of reservoir properties. A comprehensive analysis of the deposits, including the study of the regional geological setting and analog fields, detailed analysis of core and thin sections, identification of lithological heterogeneity, matching lithotypes to available well logs, intraformational correlation and comparison of the established heterogeneity with the seismic data allowed to develop a conceptual reservoir model.
