Abstract

Summary

The history of the geological structure study of the Baykit oil and gas bearing area is considered. The main idea of the article is to show the contribution of various geological and geophysical methods to geological exploration of the area. The main stages and results of the exploration are given in the paper. At present the territory of the Baykit oil and gas bearing area can be divided into zones where various stages of geological exploration take place (from the regional to exploratory stages). Particular attention is placed on the optimal set of methods applied for the considered territory.
