Abstract
Summary
To reveal a discrete network of seismically active faults, according to the catalogs of seismic events of the KB FRC EGS RAS (Kamchatka Branch of Federal Research Center Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences), a technique is used to extract plane-oriented earthquake clusters by using Frac-Digger and Frac-Digger2 programs. The analysis of the orientation of the identified seismically active faults is used to determine the geomechanical state of the shelf of Eastern Kamchatka. Subhorizontal settings some of the most seismically active patterns pointed on a role of geofluids (water, oil, gas) in the mechanism of the strongest earthquakes generation.
