Abstract

Summary

The results of the experimental determinations of the cation exchange capacity (CEC) values of the Bazhenov shales in Western Siberia within one well are presented in the paper. The CEC varies in the depth within 6.44÷10.08 meq/100 g and is generally consistent with the CEC values of shale rocks of the various shale formations. It is found that the rocks exchange complex of the section belongs to the marine type with a predominance of Na+ and K+ and confirm the marine origin of the considered BS rock samples.
