Abstract
Summary
High-resolution seismic surveys carried out in different parts of the Caspian over the past 20 years have provided fundamentally new material on the structure of the upper part of the sedimentary cover. These works allowed to identify vertical destructive zones confined to areas of development of abnormally high pressures. These destructive zones are associated with the vertical movement of fluid and its discharge from the deep strata to the upper weakly lithified quaternary deposits in the bottom part of the section, with the formation of so-called “sedimentary dykes”.
