Abstract

Summary

An accurate offset-to-angle transform is crucial to predict subsurface lithology and fluid properties from seismic data. The based-ray approach, which has high computational efficiency and widely used in practical production. However, traditional based-ray approaches are mostly based on the assumption of horizontal layered media, and its performance is unsatisfactory in dip situations. Thus, a new based-ray approach with formation dip constraint for offset domain pre-stack seismic data into angles is proposed. Firstly, plane wave destruction (PWD) filter is introduced to estimate the slope of strata. Then, the formula based on ray theory with slope is derived. In particular, the traditional approach is a special case of the proposed method. Finally, numerical experiments on the synthetic data and the real seismic data, confirm the validity of the proposed method.
