Abstract
Demand for the development of Surfactant based fracturing fluids for conventional as well as an unconventional reservoir is ever increasing because of its residue free breaking properties, high performance for proppant carrying and non-damaging characteristics. This study integrates novel idea of preparing a fracturing fluid that leaves no residue after breaking. We prepared the VES (Viscoelastic surfactant) gel using Tween 80+NaOA/2-Ethyl hexanol /clove oil/water systems. The main objectives of the study were to investigate the effect of Magnesium oxide (MgO) nanoparticles on prepared Viscoelastic surfactant based fracturing fluid. The effect of nanoparticle on the rheological properties of VES gel with nanoparticle and without nanoparticle was compared at different temperature and shear rate conditions. Static and dynamic rheology study showed the enhancement of viscoelasticity and apparent viscosity due to pseudo cross linking of Magnesium oxide (MgO) nanoparticles. Morphological studies of VES gel with nanoparticle was done through FESEM image. The results indicate that the MgO nanoparticles exhibits a synergistic effect in terms of viscoelasticity and rheology, which can improve the proppant suspension capabilities
