Abstract

Summary

Seismic reflection signal contains multiple frequency components, where the low-frequency components are more sensitive to the hydrocarbon reservoir. Some low-frequency-dependent seismic attributes have been successfully used for hydrocarbon identification. Seismic spectral decomposition method is the technical support for extracting low frequency attributes. However, traditional spectral decomposition method almost are the decomposition process on the full frequency content of seismic signal without considering the suppression between different frequency content, which will produce an average effect and reduce accuracy. Hence, we proposed an algorithm flow, i.e., EMD-MP, which can reduce the interference of different frequency components and reconstruct more complete low-frequency information. Meanwhile, EMD-MP can adaptively set search parameters to improve the efficiency and accuracy of MP based on the frequency feature of IMFs. In addition, we calculate a low-frequency seismic attribute, i.e., SFM, based on EMD-MP and integral operation. The field data application has proved the potential of SFM based on EMD-MP in the quantitative characterization of deep-water gas reservoir.
