Abstract

Summary

Where partners and spouses of highly skilled employees on assignment can also access employment, the result is a more sustainable approach to global mobility. Governments recognise that their country becomes a more attractive place for talent and investment, assignments are less likely to fail and families are better able to integrate in the host country. With increasing numbers of dual career families, and with women making up the majority of partners and spouses on assignment, such work authorisation is also an important issue in furthering equality and diversity. More and more companies including in the oil and gas sector, are therefore supporting dual careers policy. Permits Foundation will continue to work on behalf of companies and other organisations to advocate for improved legislation in countries where best practice legislation is not (yet) adopted.
