Abstract

Summary

We acquired low-cost baseline and monitor high-resolution 3D (HR3D) streamer seismic surveys using the P-Cable system with a small air-gun source array (300 in3) and 18(base)/16(monitor) short (100m) hydrophone cables over deepwater fields with water depths ranging from 900m to 3000 m. Acquisition position repeatability was excellent and cross-line source errors were mostly below 10m. The resulting data show reliable 4D seismic changes at deep water-flooded reservoirs located 2000+ m below the seafloor from surveys shot just 1 year apart. A number of improvements are suggested for future surveys to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the 4D response in the deep section.
