Abstract
Summary
The acoustic velocities under different temperature of the artificial heavy oil sands have been studied experimentally in this paper. The temperature sensitivity of the heavy oil sands has been studied and we find both P- and S-wave velocities decrease with the increasing temperature. Through modelling investigation, we can find that the change of the acoustic velocities with temperature in heavy oil sands is mainly due to the weakening of the cementation rather than the change of the elastic properties of heavy oil itself. The generalized CCT plus generalized Gassmann equations could be a good method to explain and predict the acoustic velocities of the heavy oil sands.
