Abstract
The reflection and transmission (R/T) responses characterize the subsurface local property. The widespread anisotropy has considerable influences for the amplitude. Although the transversely isotropic media with horizontal symmetry axis (HTI) is the simplest azimuthal anisotropy model, it characterizes the common structures containing a set of vertical fractures. In this paper, we consider the layered HTI media with nonaligned symmetry axes. We first estimate the accurate R/T coefficients scaled by the vertical energy flux. Under the assumption of weak contrast across the interface, a simple layered HTI model is perturbed to approximate the R/T coefficients for the general layered HTI model. The isotropic background medium is also considered for weakly anisotropic models. Numerical tests are used to qualify the proposed approximations.
