Abstract

Summary

Krauklis wave is a kind of guided wave with strong dispersion and attenuation, trapped in fluid filled fractures. Krauklis wave is thought to be an important tool for fracture characterization. But study about Krauklis wave is still in infancy. Dispersion equations for Krauklis wave in fractures filled with viscous and non-viscous fluid are complicated transcendental equations. In this study, we choose a proper strategy to solve the equations and attain Kraulis wave phase velocity. After that we calculate the group velocity and inverse quality factors. At last, amplitude-squared average, which can indicate resonant energy density, is computed based on an analytical formula derived from a rectangular fracture model. Based on this work, we hope to illuminate the properties of Krauklis wave, including dispersion, attenuation and resonant effects. We also want to know the influence of fluid type and fracture size on these properties.
