Abstract

Summary

There is increasing interest in amplitude variation with azimuth and angle (AVAz), since azimuthal variations of amplitude may be related to near-vertical fractures. This paper describes the three-term equations and describes a robust fitting algorithm. It also uses the singular value decomposition of the model matrix to investigate the stability of the results. Finally, these methods are applied to seismic data set acquired over a fractured carbonate reservoir
