Abstract

Summary

We propose a novel time-frequency transform called the Second Order Adaptive Synchrosqueezing S transform (ASST2) and apply it to seismic ground roll attenuation. ASST2 is a data-driven method without the complexation of choosing parameters and performs highly energy-concentrated time-frequency representation with good resolution and reconstruction. Thus it is beneficial for us to extract the instantaneous features about ground roll precisely. The synthetic example has proven the superiority of ASST to some conventional time-frequency analysis methods. And the field data illustrates that comparing with some other advanced method, the proposed ASST method can attenuate more ground rolls and eliminate less reflective signals while improving the lateral coherence for the reflection in the denoising section.
