Abstract

Summary

Least-squares reverse time migration (LSRTM) has the capability to eliminate migration artifacts, balance amplitudes and improve imaging resolution. However, its expensive computation is still a challenge, especially for 3D models and seismic datasets. In order to reduce computation costs, we propose an efficient and dispersion-free finite-difference modelling operator for 3D LSRTM using an adaptive axis transformation technique. Furthermore, we accelerate computational intensive steps on GPU using CUDA programming. 3D model tests show that the proposed modeling operator is dispersion-free, memory-saving and time-efficient. The imaging results of 3D SEG/EAGE overthrust model demonstrate that adaptive grid LSRTM with GPU implementation is able to reduce computing time without precision loss.
