Abstract

Summary

The triplication conditions for SV- and SH-wave in vertical planes of orthorhombic media are splitted into in-plane and out-of-plane conditions. The in-plane condition is exactly the same as the one for transversely isotropic medium but the out-of-plane condition is the specific for orthorhombic medium. We analyze the out-of-plane condition in terms of derivatives of the phase velocity and consider special cases depending on number of singularity points.
