Influence of Pressure and Frame on Bitumen Sands Properties

Abstract
Bitumen sands properties change dramatically during thermal production. Although temperature plays a significant role in changing the bitumen sands properties, the influence of pressure and frame cannot be ignored, especially at high temperature. This study investigates the pressure and compaction effect on the properties of bitumen sands. The pressure effect is inspected by comparing the naturally compacted sample and laboratory compacted sample under different temperature conditions. The samples with same bitumen but different porosity are also compared under changing temperature conditions, which reveals that, due to different frame, the distinctions between the samples vary with temperature. The analysis of the moduli of the sand frame is also performed, demonstrating that the frame's influence increases with temperature.
