Abstract

Summary

HF oilfield is a giant oilfield in southeastern Iraq. Interlayer is a key factor affects the flow of oil and water in reservoirs, and limits the efficient development of reservoirs. The interlayers of Mishrif Formation in HF oilfield can be divided into three types: lime wackstone, lime mudstone and carbonaceous mudstone. Interlayers have low biodebris content, high mudstone content, low porosity. The pore types are mainly body cavity pore, intragranular pore and micro-pore. The distribution of interlayer is controlled by stratigraphic sequence and sedimentary environment: low-energy sedimentary environment of transgressive system tract and exposed sedimentary environment of highstand system tract. Interlayers formed in intertidal zone, limited platform supratidal zone and open platform depression. Well-seismic data was used to identify the distribution of interlayers in longitudinal direction. The main interlayers in Mishrif Formation reservoir of HF oilfield are located at the top of MC1-2, MB2-2, MB2-1 and MB1-2C. This study provides guidance for further oilfield development.
