Abstract

Summary

It is quite common for LWD tools to be unstable and the acquired data to be of poor quality. Poor quality LWD data could lead to inaccurate assessment of reservoir properties and net pay, which consequently lead to incorrect decisions during geosteering, uncertainties in completion and wrong assessment of expected productivity of wells. In the paper, authors discuss possible approaches for LWD data quality control and propose algorithms for its creation as a QC module in a geosteering software. This module is expected to be used in order to minimize the uncertainties connected with poor quality LWD data.
