Abstract

Summary

The sealing capacity of sedimentary rocks has been discussed recurrently over several decades and in different contexts. These include the stability and longevity of petroleum and natural gas reservoirs as well as the safe permanent storage of radioactive waste or carbon dioxide in the subsurface.
